Katelyn and Chris have a beautiful relationship. They met last summer in England, when Katelyn was studying abroad. After spending hours drinking tea and doing crosswords together, these two formed a friendship and relationship that has become important enough to maintain and let flourish, even when Katelyn moved back to Michigan. When Katelyn reached out, wanting to do a session when Chris was visiting her last month, we were just enthralled by their story. By the evidence of their love that we got from the wonderful note she sent us. She was so honest with their reasoning for wanting photographs of the two of them, and it was something that fully reinforced the beauty of what Bryan and I get to do. She wrote, “…being that most of the time Chris and I have an ocean between us, we can’t dissuade ourselves from the opinion that photographs of us together – the kind of photos that capture our personalities and our relationship…are just too important. Because what better treasure than those kinds of photographs when you can’t be together in person?” I love that. And how true? Photographs take you back to a moment, and in this case, will bring them back to the feeling of being in the same place, the same country…on the same continent. So glad we got to capture a moment in their story.

I love this session! What an excellent story, too!
Love that last frame.
I am eating cookie dough right now (I’m all about healthy choices, friends). It’s incredible. Not as incredible as these two folks, whom we are pretty excited to photograph again at their wedding in October. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Here are just a few favorite images from our shoot in Ann Arbor, on St. Patrick’s Day. You should’ve seen all the leprechauns running around that morning.
