We stood steady as the stars in the woods

She spent the morning with her best friends, her sister, her mom, laughing and getting ready for the day. The tears started before she had even gotten her makeup done, as she read the sweet notes her friends had written for her. All morning, all she could say was “I’m so excited” and the joy on her face was tangible. You could taste it in the air and it was breathtaking. We drove together to the first look and she talked to me like it was any other day, like she wasn’t sitting there in a wedding dress, like I wasn’t just her photographer. After their first look, we all rode together to their ceremony, and they introduced us to the music of Ben Howard. My autumn soundtrack.
We didn’t know these two before they hired us to photograph their wedding, but they’re the kind of people that say hello and immediately you feel like old pals. I cried so many times on their wedding day because it was everything a wedding day should be. Electric, filled with an energy that rang out with their love for each other and for every single person who had come to celebrate with them. We witnessed something wonderful, something mystical and divine under the tree where they were married, where Bryan washed his bride’s feet and all their guests held hands to pray for their new marriage.
